I fired someone for the first time yesterday.

We're going to be fucked for Monday and Tuesday, but I'd rather work twice as hard with one less guy than keep a lazy **** on the payroll.

So I'm doing the clutch on my neighbor's Mustang. It suddenly stopped working while driving down the highway. Now it won't even move the car from a stop. The clutch is pretty worn, then I see the flywheel.

Ok, so some burn marks and such. Then I look a little closer...

I'm pretty sure this means a mandatory resurfacing, right? I haven't come across these microcracks on the surface of a flywheel before.

Was the clutch properly adjusted?
Were you driving with your left foot on the clutch?

Lol. I think 3 people have learned to drive manual with this clutch.

amazing, I have never seen a flywheel do something like that. Must have been some burning to do that, but sadly I think that constitutes a new flywheel. Its crap like this I am happy I have a Fidnaza with $60 replaceable clutch surface plates.

That is, without a doubt, completely shot. Someone must have been riding the clutch for miles to heat it like that.

Woot. Finally got my application in with Birmingham Police. Now the wait begins to get called about an interview, if I get called about an interview. Birmingham has the toughest academy in the state, so I've been preparing for a while now. PT is going to kick my ***, at least the running part. I have 2 friends in the academy at the moment, and they have been giving me inside advice and tips on what to expect and prepare for. It's like military basic, except for it's 20 weeks, and we get to drive cars fast on the skid pad.

180k 240 flywheel i had looked like that, actually it was worse. Just got a resurface and it was all good as new.

110k miata flywheel was kinda starting to look like that, a simple resurface fixed it.

If a structurally compromised flywheel comes apart, and they do come apart, it will commonly remove the driver's feet at the ankles. The good news is you get better parking spots.

This. I would NEVER mess around with an even questionable flywheel. It's not one of those "it should be OK" things. If it fails, you are in some major ****. If your feet and legs survive, the rest of your car probably won't, and you risk injuring other motorists and bystanders. They don't just break apart, they explode apart like a bomb. Through the bellhousing, bottom of the car, legs and/or feet, dash and everything under the dash, then out through the windshield or side of the car and it keeps going. If you have seen it happen, you wouldn't risk it. Even if the machining looks like it got all of the surface cracks, if even one microscopic crack is left, it will return and propagate and with 10-20lb of material spinning at 7000-8000rpm, it won't take long for a failure.

Even I wouldn't reuse that flywheel.

I automatically discredit anyone who owns a 240 and take the opposite of their advice

So my car is building boost slower that usual and not hitting mbc settings either. I believe it to be a gasket becuse it pops and sounds like its pulling air through the system somewhere.

q: who uses exhaust gaskets?

a: people who want leaks, failues, slow boost, and more work for themselves.
