BP26 is still best. Andrew just said stock is acceptable.

Mobius 12-26-2015 02:18 AM

Right. Yes. That's my point - "acceptable" is different from "don't do this, it's bad."

Edit: we should move any further discussion of head gaskets and reroutes to any of the several relevant threads on this board, and quit cluttering up the turbo kit thread.

Savington 12-26-2015 01:25 PM

I have run lots of track hours on stock BP6Ds with reroutes. They do not explode. It is much better if you swap the head gasket, and if you're going to do a reroute, I recommend you swap the head gasket. Your car is not going to explode if you DON'T swap the gasket, but you will not get the full benefit of doing a reroute.

No more reroute chat in my turbo thread, please. Start a new thread if you want to talk about reroutes and BP6Ds.

Lokiel 12-26-2015 08:30 PM

GOOD - I thought I was in the wrong thread!

Have not been back to the dyno. Downpipe fitment and track testing has taken priority over the last few weeks.

thumpetto007 12-29-2015 01:19 PM

do you have any videos of the current setup on track?

IcantDo55 12-30-2015 11:09 PM

I got confirmation my Turbo will ship out Monday...YEA!

Savington 12-31-2015 01:42 AM

All pending 6258 orders will go out Monday. Some 6758s will go out as well, but not all - I am still waiting on a few turbos from BW.

More details on manifold ETA, downpipes, and EFR-specific inconel studs next week. :)

Justaturbo95 01-06-2016 11:58 PM

Anthony, if you are willing to say, what were the cams set at for the dyno pulls. Wondering if you rolled the exhaust any.
Also, should I be watching for a turbo in the mail?

Mobius 01-07-2016 02:51 AM

I was shown a picture of my new shiny. Much excite!

100% internally stock VVT motor, so stock cam timing. Your turbo went out with UPS on Monday, check your account for a tracking number.

My name is Andrew, BTW :)

Justaturbo95 01-07-2016 08:34 AM

Sorry Andrew, I realized name error after I posted. Long days here. The account showed as backordered so I thought I would ask. I will look at it again.
Thanks

Justaturbo95 01-07-2016 09:32 AM

Delivers tomorrow. Cool.

Pre-orders are officially closed. Thanks to everyone for supporting this project.

If you are a pre-order customer or a group buy customer, you have an email in your inbox which has information on how to order your downpipe and stud kits. Pricing for those products is included in the same email.

Our current DIY kit is now available here: Product Link - Trackspeed EFR Turbocharger System. It consists of our full turbo hotside (manifold/turbo/downpipe/studs). Oil/water lines will be added towards the end of this month, and intercooler/heatshields/etc will come in the spring.

A quick blurb on our downpipes. They are all stainless, full 3" construction from the turbo back, with a stainless flex joint to isolate the mani/turbo/DP from the rest of the exhaust. It's all compound mandrel bent, which means the four bends before the flex joint will all be on the same piece of pipe. It will ship in two pieces, which allows us to reduce cost by making one upper for all 90-05 cars and two uppers (NA/NB), but once you receive the DP and assemble it the first time, it can be removed from the car without separating it. It will have two O2 sensor bungs (only one is pictured), one for the stock sensor and one for a wideband towards the back. IOW, it's what everyone expected - properly designed and well packaged. :)

Downpipes are on a 10 week timeline, so we expect to ship them towards the end of March. We have to cut custom tooling to compound mandrel bend the upper DP, which causes a bit of a leadtime, but it also reduces cost substantially and cuts out four potential failure points.

Attachment 232687

Hopefully that covers the basics. Next up is oil/water lines, hopefully by the end of this month.

Lokiel 01-12-2016 01:41 AM

I'm curious about the Stage 8 fasteners. Most people, including myself, who've used custom manifolds with the EFR6258 found that they wouldn't fit without a lot of modification/grinding of "the teardrop". I ended up not using them and using these Nissan ones instead since one was left dangerously thin:

Nissan Genuine OEM T25 T28 Turbo Turbine Locking Tab

Are you supplying modified/tailored Stage 8 fasteners or does the manifold accommodate them without modification?

I'm hoping it's the latter since a cast manifold can allow more clearance for the studs/fasteners than a welded one.

Savington 01-12-2016 01:48 AM

I did grind the locking tabs on the Stage 8s slightly, but it wasn't required to install them - I just wanted them to sit a little closer to the turbine housing. The nuts clear the turbine housing without any issue. This is an M8 kit, not our old M10 kit.

Lokiel 01-12-2016 02:21 AM

Thanks for the confirmation - I had the M8 kit and they wouldn't fit, there wasn't enough clearance. I believe others have had the same issue too.

I'm not sure what to say, since I'm using our prototypes right now, and they definitely fit.

Our prototype M8 EFR stud kit (production except for stud length) is pictured below. I trimmed two of the clips for aesthetics, but the top rear clip is untrimmed and fits perfectly.

Hey Sav just bought the studs, question on the manifold; you mention it's two parts, is there a slip joint on there somewhere or could you expand on this point? I have an exhaust with a slip union so it'll have to be modified for a flange and my butterfly brace hugs close to the cat, I think I'll be fine if the flange is before the butterfly brace begins. Would it look similar to this?

Savington 01-25-2016 04:13 PM

The manifold is one part, the downpipe will be two. It will be a single slip joint towards the front of the transmission. It won't be anywhere near your butterfly brace.

Der_Idiot 01-25-2016 04:23 PM

Good catch, typed that out while talking to someone. That's exactly what I wanted to hear, Thanks! :)

That's nice. What's their plan for a transmission that'll hold together for more than a single pull to redline?

Don't mind me - I'm just bitter because 350 rwhp breaks my Quaife gearset (repeatedly) at the track.

aidandj 01-27-2016 12:01 AM

See his building a better msm thread for t5 updates.

gesso 01-27-2016 12:10 AM

Yay to 7163, but not the thread bump I was looking for.

Finally ordered my NA downpipe today.

Savington 01-31-2016 11:30 PM

I had a mod delete a bunch of off-topic stuff (thanks, anonymous mod). Josh, shoot me an email re: oil drain location on Richard's pan.

If you do not have one of my kits, PLEASE do not discuss what "might" work with my components. Even if you think there are similarities between my production kit and your DIY system, and even if there are similarities, you run the risk of causing severe confusion for a potential customer who misinterprets your post as a confirmation of compatibility for something like an oil drain location, coolant lines, heat shields, etc. For the sake of those customers who might be confused (and to prevent tremendous user support headaches for myself in the future), I'll ask a mod to delete any post that does this in the future. Fair warning.

Any updates on when manifolds will be shipping?

Savington 02-03-2016 01:49 PM

No update. They are in machine right now. Could be out by the end of the week, could be another 2-3 weeks. Impossible for me to say.

Thanks for the update. Just curious, no rush on my side.

In your testing are you using the internal CRV (BOV) or not and why?

Chilicharger665 02-10-2016 06:49 AM

Are you serious? That has been addressed multiple times. READ.

Well then you might need the time off.

Mobius 02-11-2016 02:10 AM

Damn people calm down. Seriously. More of you should smash your car and then go on an international vacation for a year, like me. Then you could be all relaxed and watch the parts of awesomeness slowly trickle in, like me.

Mobius is in no hurry

Mobius sees updates about Andrew's parts, and is pleased, and has a beer

Be like Mobius

Edit: maybe don't smash your car. That part sucks.

Pssh.

Mobius drove a Rotrex for 6 years (and liked it, and does not regret that decision, and still recommends it to others) waiting for this day.

Don't tell Mobius how to wait.

stoves 02-11-2016 08:42 AM

I've still got at least another year until I can accumulate the rest of all of the parts I need and get an engine built. I'm in no hurry.

XLR8 02-11-2016 11:32 PM

Anxiously awaiting 6758 results at 10+psi. Everything with the kit looks fantastic thus far.

1kestrel 02-12-2016 11:39 AM

Anxiously awaiting my pre-ordered parts here, but no hurry. It's going to be single digit temps this weekend:eek:

gesso 02-18-2016 07:15 PM

Still on the truck somewhere? :hopeful:

Savington 02-18-2016 07:17 PM

Off the truck, through QC, off to laser engraving last week. Any day now.

Savington 02-19-2016 06:10 PM

Manifolds are trickling out of the foundry. I have a partial batch going out today.

If you placed your order before December 5th of last year, your manifold will ship today or Monday

If you placed your order after December 5th of last year, your manifold will ship in ~2 weeks. I have about 10 pieces from that batch available for purchase today.

M8 EFR stud kits are going out with manifolds.
