Its funny.

In the end, there is no miatasupercharger.net, and most manufacturers either already discontinued, or are discontinuing making blowers for these cars.

I wonder why.
We need "Miatasupercharged.net" where everyone is on global ignore, lol. It could take years for them to figure it out.

But with every other post someone makes a global ignore. So it at least looks somewhat active.

Installing superchargers and properly tuning them requires more effort and knowledge than is available from your average moron, which is a big reason why turbos are certainly the most common approach.

Honestly, 99% of turbo installs are garbage too. You certainly have a lot more people making big power with turbos than SCs on these cars, but those are in the 1% too. Everyone else is buying a shitty used Greddy kit and a voodoo box and making 150rwhp and screaming "woooooo trrrbooooo".

In the end, different strokes for different folks. I like having power the millisecond I mash the throttle. Other people like the delayed kick in the pants of a turbo -- it makes the car feel faster than it is, but all we're in this for is fun anyway, so that's fine. Just depends what you like.

Are you saying that superchargers are harder to tune than turbochargers?

Idle, sure, but power, no.

Power is about the same. Idle is definitely harder. Proper tip-in is way harder.

Same reason as VHS beat out Beta and BluRay beat out HD DVD. The superior product cost more to produce for the ignorant masses.

Except BluRay was (and still is) superior to HD DVD in every way.

No, that one goes to the **** industry. They adopted BluRay, and so HD DVD died.

It didn't help that Blockbuster adopted it as well...

I heard Blockbuster adopted it because it matched their corporate colours...

What happened next to Blockbuster BTW?

VHS beat out Beta for four reasons:

1: Sony thought they could duplicate the success of their professional U-matic format, and decided to adopt a totally closed, proprietary model. JVC, by comparison, freely licensed the VHS technology to other manufacturers at a reasonable cost. By doing this, they created an intra-format price war in which the various VHS manufacturers competed with one another to drive down the cost of the machines, thus creating a large base of inexpensive machines which appealed to price-conscious consumers.

2: When it was first introduced, Beta could hold only 60 minutes (later 90 minutes by the use of thinner, longer tape) on a single cassette, whereas VHS debuted with a 2 hour cassette which was later stretched to 3 hours by the same technique. The immediately endeared VHS to both consumers and the video rental industry, as it meant that a whole Hollywood movie fit onto a single cassette, lowering costs (for the movie rental industry) and increasing convenience to the consumer by not having to change tapes halfway through.

3: Sony eventually resolved this dilemma by adding the B-II mode to later machines, which allowed them to run at a lower speed and, thus, hold a full movie on one tape. Of course, this immediately rendered all first-gen machines obsolete, as they were unable to play tapes recoded in the new format. It also rendered moot the relatively trivial quality advantage that Beta held over VHS in chroma resolution.

4: Faeflora was an early adopter of Beta.

Of course, it turns out that consumers (at that time) didn't really care about video quality enough to actually pay for it. Neither SuperBeta / ED Beta nor S-VHS attracted any significant consumer following, despite vastly improving picture quality in the form of increased horizontal resolution and decreased chroma noise. LaserDisc suffered the same fate- achieving only a small cult following despite a massive improvement in picture quality.

Haha, I love it. Hey lets get in the ring and go a few rounds.......but don't punch me in the face. Really? "oversized"? I wasn't aware I needed to play by some rule that limits the size of charger when someone starts a thread asking why they are bad.

Hey I know. Knowbody should ever go into business for themselves or start up a company because they might pull a Bill Gates or Warren Buffet and God forbid they become part of the 1%ers.

So just to be clear, the majority of the posters in this thread look down on me and name call and bash because I was successful in building a SC miata that makes more power than 75% of the turbo ones?

Validation? I don't need anyone's validation. I'm a big boy thank you, and looking at the level of car I drive and spanking the competition is validation enough. Oh....and being in the 1%.

Although you make a valid point, that's not what he was talking about.

That aside, it's great that you're one of the very few people driving a properly built supercharged miata that makes power. You're one of handful of people driving a properly setup supercharger.. the rest are running failaids which is a big reason why the bad vibe. Reality is IF all the turbo people were "zomgawd my car is turbo charged car running 5th injector setup and o2 sensor clamps and 12 bandaids just to make it work" and a supercharger forum that had most cars running standalone and properly built setups, the vibe would be reversed. This is all about the crowd here. The reasons why a turbo is better than a supercharger have already been discussed few pages back.

Which doesn't make SCing a miata wrong/bad/stupid. There are a lot of stupid ways to do a lot of things in life. There are also successful ways that shouldn't fall into a blanket of stupidity, imaturity, and naivety.
