Are we talking about the same boxes. I'm talking about the action packers. I've read some really good things about them. And all my 4x4 friends strap them to the back of their trucks.

It doesn't need to be thief proof. Just tamper proof. It will be carrying all the light camping gear. Tools will go in the trunk.

OK, better than what I had in mind. I had vision of the $9 Christmas tree storage box.

Then again, "action packer"? I guess that really does go with Miata...

This one is just under 4 feet wide. And should fit all my camping gear, with room to spare.

Good thing you only bought the 40" ***** and not the 48" one.

Tires. I think I've narrowed it down to star spec z2s.

Reasoning.

Rival s wear too fast/don't last on the track
Same with re71s
Federal 595s are not easy to get
Can't find 205 normal rivals anymore.

Leaves me with star specs right?

Sounds good. I wouldn't buy Federals even if they were available lol.

Turbofan has had really good experience with the Federals. Might not be great on longetivity but they are very cheap

I've driven two different cars with them. Thumbs down from me, do not want.

If you can't find 205 normal Rivals, does that mean you can find 225s? If so, why not those?

I don't have the most finely calibrated senses, but I do love my Federals currently. Next I plan to try the 225/45 Kumho V710's I think, just because I am not ready to go back to RS3's.

I have heard people say the Federals can get greasy, but if I experienced it I was too fatigued to be able to tell. Had no issues at Miatas at MRLS last year though. Would happily buy another set if they did them in 225s.

Buh? 225s fit on 15x8s just fine. Hell, they fit on 15x7s just fine. Sure, they're better on 15x9s, but 225s on 15x8s are better than 205s on 15x8s.

That's reasonable.

Might call online tires and ask if they have federals in stock.

You'll learn more easily on a simple 205 like the star spec. We have dozens of track miatas come through the shop, you know this. Don't think we've ever suggested federal. Star specs on the other hand, wonderful tire.

I'm going 205 that's a given. I'm waiting to hear about a work bonus then tires. I like that star specs are available all the time. No other tire is.
