I was told to expect some pretty low numbers.

Guess who's currently sitting on the side of the freeway with a broken transmission?

So I'm getting a 6 speed and I think I'll be happy with just under 400whp. Anyone have any experience with reliability on the 6 speeds?

Yes.
They are good up to a certain point where they will break.

They're definitely strong enough to hold 400.
A few have broken them at those levels, but those people all tracked the car rigorously.

What turbo will you be bolting on to hit 400whp?

As many of these things as I break it really should start to make me feel bad. But I get this grin of accomplishment when they snap. 6 speed has been purchased. We don't play. Not sure why I keep fixing things so quickly. It's the middle of winter. I think this weekend I'll take care of some things I've been putting off in favor of performance. This is what I've come up with for my setup.. Not that sweet. I should start in second gear.

I have my OEM front fascia piece so I'll pull my front and rear bumpers and re paint them. The front has a couple of scuffs I'd like to clear up. I'm also considering ducting my fog light openings up into the bay or at least my air box. The rear bumper has the OEM holes from the emblems that have been removed. Also - Given the car's history of exploding transmissions I should probably install a tow hook. The tow truck guys keep running cables under my car to the control arms which means the cables touch my front bumper as is.

Also - I saw this at SEMA in the ford booth.. My wheels would take this look very well but I'm torn. Do it? Do it red? Do it white? Feedback from you cats?

I wouldn't do red or white.
The current black looks great.

paint them something other than red...for example: cyan, orange, yellow, royal purple, etc...far too many people do black + red imo.

You seem to be pretty legit about your decisions on your ride!! My opinion I wouldnt paint a quater wheel... You see that on street bikes all the time but you ride is to clean to do that to your wheels... Jus sayin.. I'm sure whatever you decide will be dope either way!!!

6 Speed showed up at 3PM- got off of work and a couple of buddies helped me get the thing in by 9PM. Win.

I'll paint my bumpers tonight and take it for a little joy ride.

So this past weekend I brought the car out for some fun. Ended up running a slightly modified M6 with the V10. We were door to door on the freeway until I failed to shift into 5th each time. Then from a lower roll I was able to creep out on him through a couple of gears to gain about 1/2 a car by the time we shut it down... Good times.

I've been trying to figure out how to launch the car. With this diff and the 6 speed I'm finding it more effective launching from 2nd gear using launch control at about 4200RPM. Then the car spools and all hell breaks loose. So I'll setup boost by gear and run 1st and 2nd at maybe 12 PSI or less to see what happens.

What are you guys doing? I have an 03 6 speed diff in my sights but until then I'd like your feedbacks?

Great build. Have been following it for a while.
I would definitely get different gears in the diff. Perhaps 3.9? 4.3 and 6-speed are just too close of a ratio for a turbo car. The idea is to sit in boost, not shift.
I have 3.73 gears for my race car with the turbo 5-speed transmission, but you can only get 3.9 as the lower gear. A buddy of mine had 3.9's on his turbo Miata and it made a big difference and it was much nicer to drive on the highway too.
