Fireindc's attempt to build a decent miata. (the search for more torque).

Warning: MS tard here
Are you running only the wideband with a target AFR? Or is there a narrowband sensor in the mix as well?
My ECU runs off a narrowband, and I only use a wideband to monitor WOT, not sure if that's how MS works or not. At a steady cruise my AFRs normally fluctuate 1-1.5pts (which I see in the WB display) as my ECU monitors fuel trims.

Thanks for the advice guys. Here's how I have it setup right now. NO nb02, only wbo2 for cruise and WOT (like most MS owners). I had tuned cruise to a perfect 14.5 or so afr and it was hitting and holding that consistently, until just recently.
This is what I'm thinking now, weather has certainly changed, I have NO ego corrections enabled at the moment (because tuning), the ecu is forced into open loop at all times, and AE is still turned off. I will get some logs and do some more experimentation soon, getting this damn thing aligned today or tomorrow because the alignment shop was closed all weekend.
I'm thinking without EGO on the conditions have just changed enough to screw with my cruise, the weird thing is that it will fluctuate so much while in cruise. It will show 14.5 on a steady state cruise, then fluctuate up to 16.1, and back down to 14.1.
My plan now is to take some logs, get some info for you guys, and try just letting the ECU tune my cruise cells using the wbo2 to see what it does, and if it makes the car smoother or jerkier. I can always revert back to the current tune if need be.

I'll try re-enabling those as well to see if that helps now that the table is much better tuned. I've got a few ideas on my mind right now, just waiting to get a damn alignment so I can drive the car without destroying my new expensive rubber.

Got this **** aligned. Ended up with
2.1F camber
1.6R camber
0 Toe f/r
4.5caster
Probably not 100% ideal, but he got it as close to what I wanted as we could. Car feels ****** awesome.
Now for some more driving and tuning, will update soon.

Quick update putting some thoughts on the car out there.
1) My new wheels/tires are amazing. So much ******* grip it's completely transformed the car. I love them. Very impressive rain performance too! I was in a torrential downpour in the canyon today crossing little rivers of water across the road and visibility was only a few car lengths at the most. Car was confident and gave me no issues.
2) Car is decently quick and very enjoyable. Today on 8-9psi I pulled 4 car lengths on my buddies tuned stock turbo wrx. It's a 2007 wrx with all the normal boltons, uppipe/turboback exhaust, larger top mount, dyno tuned. WRX runs 14.0's all day long. Not bad, I was impressed.
3) wbo2 is working fine, thanks for the help guys. Got the car tuned back in, I guess without any corrections on the tune slipped quite a bit. car re-dialed in and EGO correction enabled now.
Needs more boost though e85 soon and I'll let this turbo rip to see what it can do.

I'm sure my camera also sucks too, but when it's overcast the pictures just look like this. I'll try to get a picture when the sun is out.

Over the weekend I installed my frame rails, the stock ones were FUBARD. I hammered em out and installed the static nine ones over them. They fit awesomely, +1 grade a product.
Also picked up some new goodies.

More to come this fall/winter. Expect a mild bottom end rebuild with forged rods, a head re-freshening, and moar boost/bigger turbo. This will be the first motor I've ever attempted to build so I'll document it here. The plan is to learn the ropes with a mild built bottom end before dumping too much $$ into a motor, then eventually go with a big boy motor setup w/ forged everything and lots of $$$ thrown at it. That is a LONG way in the future though, just thinking out loud here.
For now the car is fun as hell and I love it. The goal is constant improvement.

Judging from my old limp-dick frame rails, there should be a noticeable improvement. I always knew the frame rails were soft, but the stock ones are like butter. It's ridiculous. I'd recommend this mod as one of the first to anyone with a lowered miata, even if just for the protection they provide.
No idea on real world results yet. I spent sat pulling the seats, hammering the old rails, hitting them with wire wheel, painting them with rustoleum, and installing these frame rails over them. I then spent sunday driving 2.5 hours each way to pick up my new seats.
Today after work I will install the seats and get it back on the road.
