I like this car way too much.

 

I'm a little confused. The car dies if I crank it with the AC on on start, immediately. What should be adjusted for this? I'd like to have a 1300-1000rpm decay for hot-starts like this.

Also, I don't really understand PID idle control as well as I should. What would make the car idle fine for ~5 minutes. Then without even being in the car it will "chug" and attempt to idle at ~500rpm...then go back to normal after that 5 second event.

 

log the chug! it could be anything, but im thinking maybe a tpsdot event.




shouldn't have any issues running the a/c and cranking...possibly not enough fuel in that area on the fuel map during the decay?

Well, I had 7 sync-loss events in about 10-minutes of driving today. What needs to be done to make this stop? I believe this is causing my random idle problems.

 

What is the sync-loss error? You did move crank sensor to only be a credit card distance from the timing wheel correct?

Yes. I logged about 20-minutes with VVTuner disconnected and there was no sync loss. I will try this again tonight.

 

Looks to me as if need to share the signals like we talked about before. Since I did that I have not had a single sync loss.

I'll come to you. I'd love to learn how to do this. My biggest concern is that I don't have a solder-suction tool, don't care to buy one, and don't care to learn on something expensive and critical.

I'd also like to solder-mod the VTPS on my MSpnp1 so I can sell that thing.

 

How can I be certain this is the problem?

 

I have some spare PCBs I had ordered earlier in the year or you can buy something like a prototype board from Frys with holes surrounded by copper. They are pretty cheap. If you need to do soldering of surface mount ICs, we can use one of my spare PCBs.

IIRC, you're just doing thru-hole soldering, right? I think that's what I saw from Graeme's picture. Nothing surface mount.

A decent solder sucker isn't that expensive. $35 7881 Weller | Mouser is what I have.

 

Can't be certain about anything, but it sure looks EXACTLY like what I went thru.
Simple question, why does it not do it with thw vvtuner out and the dummie plug installed? KISS!

 

I wonder if there is another problem or if there is something else that I don't understand. I'd hate to make this change and screw something up, or at the least not fix the problem.

You can't really screw anything up with soldering unless you fry the traces in the PCB

Between a desoldering pump and desoldering wick, you can undo anything you do

 

I use this tool to desolder with and it actually work decently.

 

Only you can decide what to do. I did not want to mod my box and remove designed functionality, but as it was, it did not function the way it should have. Go back and read my posts, both here and at msextra.com, I asked the same questions.
