sean's cheap thrills, 90 1.6 with subaru td04
Ah, disregard then. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I have been enjoying my little T25 1.6 for a few weeks now, it's surprised a few cars/people on the street. I think rods would be great insurance while still keeping things at a lower cost for sure.
On the street, with upgraded rods, it would be such a waste not to run allofit on that td04. It doesn't have much topend, might as well enjoy a nice fat torque curve.
You can do whatever you want on the track, I've seen people break 5sp at stock power so you're pretty much on borrowed time no matter what.

You could break a ball bearing with a plastic spoon
Im guessing 8-10 psi would be just under that, maybe ill scale it back to 180wtq. Then again all this chat is just until I find a decently priced 6 spd, at the same time that I have cash available.
Yea that's just for track. I am experimenting to see what ALLOFIT is going to be out of this td04, and that will be my street tune(or a little less until 6 speed, although vlad is making that goal hard to stick to). I have EBC table switch on the dash.

I love that, my LGT is the same way(290awhp and dead silent). People never expect it from those cars. Although a honda stance bro tried to race me on the freeway with he miata the other day.
I did rods only because 1.6. And the only reason I even opened it was because the rings were smoked and I just couldnt get a 1.8 for decent money in any sort of time and didnt want to redo the hotside especially with only like 30 miles on it. I now have a complete 99 sitting in the garage ready to be built. In any case it should handle 300whp just fine, and I have less than $500 into the motor.
Stop it, youre a bad influence.
Yes 5 speed, blah blah blah. I think we can all agree though, that it will last longer at 180tq, than it will at 250tq. Also, im just an ******* who likes to #trackdaybro on kumhos or at best 205 or 225 rivals. Im not fast and im not putting power down on hoosiers, which I believe makes some difference.
***, I just remembered I still need an oil cooler.

I use push-loc on my fuel system and on one of my oil feed lines to the rear turbo. No leaks from push loc ever, only from crappy an fittings.

TBH the leaks were never from the compression fitting, but from the taper, and seat. And yea, those were **** china ebay fittings. Im just being lazy and would rather push a hose onto a fitting. Ill probably just end up getting a kit from Andrew.

Last time I checked, you could source the sandwich plate and fittings through TSE for less than that. I would confirm with Andrew though, no guarantees.

Woohoo I got 2, 6 series setrab 25 row oil coolers from ebay for $65 each! They are marked as "unused surplus", so im hoping that means basically new.
Anyone need an oil cooler?

The only caveat, as aidan pointed out is that they have a M AN fitting, stead of the usual F. I cant think of any downside, just needs the corresponding hose end.
