Immigration as the hill the left will expire on
By: el gato malo

..."but it's basically the only thing holding the left together anymore. they are not really an ideology so much as a scupper for the venn intersect of the marginalized and the power hungry. they agree about little and cooperate about less. without unification by external foe, it all fractures.

the dems in the US have become so desperate and so out of touch that they are having one "let them eat cake" moment after another.

they seemingly cannot help it or, perhaps, even see it. the latest budget struggle represents a new and even more tone deaf escalation. imagine threatening to shut down the government unless the american people fund free healthcare, housing, and food for illegals. imagine thinking the public was with you on what's probably damn near an 80/20 issue. how could anyone expect this to play among those struggling to make ends meet?

the charitable take is: this is the terrible price of longterm life inside of echo chambers and having no idea what the rest of the country thinks.

the less charitable take is: this party is a wounded, cornered animal that is 100% aware that if the illegals lose their goodies and self-deport, that the dems will lose voters and house seat/electoral college apportionment to blue states in such numbers as to be unable to contend for power.

my take is: both are true and that the swamp donkey leadership knows that it is in existential extremis without USAID and imported voters and clout and at the same time that they have gravely miscalculated how unpopular the continued championing of such has become.

they are sure they can just "demsplain" it to you and moralize harder.

desperation and desperate delusion make for calamitous bedfellows." ...

Modern Day Trojan Horse: The Islamic Doctrine of Immigration
By Sam Solomon and Elias Al Maqdisi
ANM Publishers, 2009

..."Within the past few decades, mosques have increasingly dotted the landscapes of American and European cities and towns, with mega mosques often overshadowing adjacent, centuries-old churches in predominantly Christian regions. Islamic schools or academies and a host of Muslim organizations have become omnipresent across the West.

Meanwhile, Americans and Europeans have made countless accommodations to Muslim demands. To those in Western democracies, these accommodating actions appear, on the surface, to be little more than harmless civil gestures, respecting the needs of a growing religion in their midst and welcoming a new addition to their proud, multicultural tradition. Many Westerners pat themselves on the back for their liberal bent, their tolerance and their open-mindedness.

Little do they realize that this strategic pattern of demands is part of an insidious, 1,400-year-old proscription for Muslims that originates in the Koran and the Sunnah, the deeds of Mohammed. It is the Hijra or doctrine of immigration. Modeled by Mohammed's migration from Mecca to Medina, this immigration is not to a romanticized melting pot wherein newcomers gratefully search for opportunities for a better life in liberty and freely offer their talents and loyalty to benefit their new homeland. This is immigration for Islamic expansionism employing ethnic separatism to gain special status and privileges within the host country. Hijra is immigration designed to subvert and subdue non-Muslim societies and pave the way for eventual, total Islamization.

In their compelling book, "Modern Day Trojan Horse: The Islamic Doctrine of Immigration," authors Sam Solomon, a former professor of shari'ah law and convert to Christianity, and Elias Al Maqdisi, an expert on Islamic teachings, explain the migration of Muslims to the Dar-al-Harb, the "land of war," as a religious edict with a basis in Islamic doctrine. They delineate the step-by-step process of this 1,400-year-old strategy of conquest. It is a transitional strategy which they characterize as the most important step in spreading Islam and preparing for jihad. From their carefully delineated treatise on Hijra, it is clear that migration in concert with military conquest comprise the bookends of Islamic expansionism.

Solomon and Al Maqdisi review the phases of the Hijra and its juristic or legal basis in Islamic doctrine. Under the cover of taquiya or deception, the step-by-step methodology of the migration process is designed to subdue, then, subjugate the host culture, culminating in implementation of shari'ah law.

The beginning phase of Islamization usually includes activities pivotal to building a physical presence. It consists of public calls to prayer; founding of schools, libraries and research centers; and the teaching of Arabic -- actions that appear to be reasonable and respectable infrastructure requirements necessary to support the presence of a faith. At this point in the Hijra, it is permissible for Muslims to engage in haram, or forbidden actions, out of necessity to establish and empower the umma or Muslim community. Koranic rules such as the prohibition against friendships with infidels are suspended while the objectives of future Islamization are systematically put into place. In its initial phase, the Hijra passes scrutiny by the West whose citizens erroneously view the migration as mainly economic -- a pilgrimage for a better life.

All demands are initially presented as benign attempts to accommodate the religious requirements of devout Muslims. Any actions to suppress them are decried as religious discrimination..."

I cut a lot of the meat out of this summary which is available at the link and just posted some of the general statements. Interesting take.

"All over social media, print media, and network television, leftists are wringing their hands about the death of free speech in America occasioned by the chilling effect that comes when people's lives can be destroyed for their opinions.

I guess they should have thought of this before they went all in on destroying peoples' lives for their opinions.

For fifteen years now the left has wielded cancellation as a weapon, destroying the lives of innocent people for saying innocuous things like 'all lives matter' or 'marriage is between a man and a woman' or 'men and women have different interests'. They've blown loud raspberries at silly notions of 'freeze peach', and informed us that 'freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences'. They've insisted that silence is violence, that speech is violence, and that violence is the language of the unheard...

The curious phenomenon of leftist narrative blindness was repeatedly demonstrated during the COVID years, in which the entire professional-managerial caste would switch from one narrative to its opposite like a school of fish, confidently proclaiming on one day what they had denounced as anti-scientific misinformation just the day before.

The left screamed about the spontaneous unguided tour of the capitol on J6 as an insurrection and an unforgivable attack on our democracy, conveniently forgetting that the Weather Underground were bombing federal facilities, including the Capitol, back in the 70s, or that the state capitol of Wisconsin was occupied by protesters in 2011 ... or that they'd attacked the White House in 2020 ... to say nothing of the nation-wide Burning Looting and Murdering they committed in the wake of Floyd's fentanyl overdose.

Sure enough, in the wake of Kirk's murder, with his blood still on the ground and their gleeful cries ringing in the world's ears, the left went on an immediate disinformation counter-offensive. They adopted the narrative that Tyler Robinson was a right-wing groyper - an online follower of Nick Fuentes - who had assassinated Kirk for not being based enough, or for supporting Israel, or something. It was for lying about this that Kimmel was pulled off the air. The evidence for Robinson's right-wing sympathies were that he'd been raised in a conservative Mormon household by a police officer father, and that he'd dressed up as a gopnik once or something. Robinson's live-in relationship with a troon, the Antifa slogans he'd carved into the bullet casings, and his friends and family attesting to his left-wing radicalization were waved away. This is what abusive narcissists do: "I didn't do the thing you just saw me do to you, and anyhow you deserved it." Sure enough, as I wrote this, another leftist sniper attacked an ICE facility in Dallas; sure enough, leftists immediately began insisting that he couldn't possibly have been a leftist, this time on the grounds that the shooter inscribed 'Anti-ICE' rather than '**** ICE' on his bullets.

In a lot of cases, however, calling them 'liars' isn't quite accurate. Lying implies conscious deception. If you've talked to these people, which I know you have to the point where you have post-traumatic stress disorder, you know that they seem to really believe the things they say. It does not matter in the slightest if they contradict the thing they said yesterday. They apparently have no memory of their previous statements. Their present belief is always entirely sincere. It does not matter if observable reality is in stark contradiction to their belief. They have lost the ability to distinguish between fact and fiction, with the result that they routinely mistake their own pop culture propaganda for reality."

Don't care if I'm called a bigot. Islam does not belong in America. See Europe for centuries of examples.

It's painful, but you need to listen to the whole thing.

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), often called "The Nation's Report Card", is the largest nationwide assessment of what U.S. students know and how they perform in core subjects.

· For reading, recent results show that only about 35% of high school seniors scored at or above the NAEP "Proficient" level, and roughly 32% scored below the "Basic."

· In mathematics, the outcomes were even lower, with just 22% of seniors reaching "Proficient" and about 45% performing below "Basic."

· Writing results, though older (from 2011, the last full 12th-grade writing assessment), revealed similar challenges: only 27% of students scored at or above "Proficient," while about half demonstrated at least "Basic" skills.

These findings demonstrate that a large number of students leave high school without the reading, writing, and math competencies considered necessary for life skills and future academic success.

According to the National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI):

"Taxpayers spend an average of $16,446 per pupil annually in public schools, plus capital expenditures (National Education Association, 2023). Homeschool families spend an average of $600 per student annually on their education.

Sixshooter commentary: I guess the price of the house is not counted in that number but a school building would be.

When News Nation came into being, WGN's accounting started getting rather complicated, as many projects which are driven by NN's existence also affect WGN's back-end infrastructure. Some of these projects, such as the replacement of the house router in 2020 ($565.000) were split 50/50 between the two business units, much to the detriment of WGN's financials in FY20.

After that, we adopted a somewhat different approach. If a project would never have been done if not for the fact that News Nation occupies half of this building, then News Nation bears the cost. If a project would have been done purely for WGN's own sake, then WGN and News Nation bear the cost jointly, typically in a 1/3 - 2/3 apportionment.

I take a similar view here. A family's house exists regardless of whether the children are home-schooled or sent to a factory school. The cost of the house is not increased by the activity of schooling taking place within in.

The school building, by contrast, would not exist if all children were home-schooled. The cost to construct, staff, and maintain a school rises roughly in proportion to the number of students which attend it.

I still have two kids in high school, and one at our local college. My youngest son goes to a $20k/year private Catholic school because he wanted to enroll in their law magnet. It's like a starter-cost for college. Our daughter is a freshman at San Clemente High School, with the motto "One town one team." There's only one high school in a town of 62k+ people. I was just talking with my wife this morning, and we just realized that JUST her expenses for water polo this year will be $5k.

Anyone who has seen the graph of American scores plummeting over time while the school staff and administration ballooning realizes that our money is being wasted. However, it does look like Mississippi is finding answers. Until then, give us a school voucher so we can choose were to spend our education dollars while our kids are in school. We've been paying education dollars BEFORE kids, and will be paying education dollars AFTER kids; we should be able to decide where this money goes while our kids are school age.
