have you thought about doing a twin scroll setup with an evo 8/9 turbo?

Are those the left handed spinning ones? Possible packaging problems with those maybe.

wondering how much the manifolds cost and if you ever ship them to the states?

Thank you Sean, we are interested in seeing your parts! Post some pictures if you get a chance.

Reggie, I thought about this but haven't gotten round to making a manifold yet. As Leafy pointed out it looks a bit awkward to fit due to the angle of the compressor discharge and turbo outlet flanges but it should be possible to weld a log similar to the stock Evo cast part. Looking at the pitch and shape of the ports it may even be possible to modify a welded Evo manifold to fit a 1.8.

Jesse I sent a PM. I have sent a handful of parts to the states but I guess in general you guys are spoiled for choices. And now that the trackspeed kit is flooding the market I expect that this thread will have to be wound down.

Recent stuff includes a nb fl td04 set up. The downpipe is pretty long as it is also replaces the cat.

A t28 nb kit

Some times I am not sure to stick or tig so I end up using both.

80mm downpipe

and a BBR replacement manifold

Sorry, not to crap up the thread. The winter project was to install a TD05HR on the car. I got it in there. I think it would be easier with your idea working around a log similar to stock evo cast part. Everything clears-but it's tight. It's almost done:

I will try to get a thread started this weekend.
Give it a try. Your skillset is up to the task.

I'm planning to make a manifold similar to your design very soon. Your elbows are all long radius elbows right?

What is that BBR manifold for?

Jeff, that looks great! I am inspired now, I must try.

Michael I use regular 5/4 and6/4 elbows mostly. I did make a few manifolds using r=1.5 d metric bends previously but now I use regular bends as the dimensions suit axial mount logs pretty well. The max width of I make a 1.6 manifold is 105mm and the 1.8 is 95mm. It is possible to hold these dimensions using regular bends. Here is a video showing a typical manifold going together.

The BBR manifold was a replacement manifold for a cast part that was used on a factory MX5 turbo sold in the UK in the early 90's.

Anyone come across one of these before?

As far as I can tell it is from some now defunct Greddy kit. It had been repaired several times previously but now has gotten to the stage where repairs are no longer an option due to metal embitterment.
I was asked to make a log based mild steel replacement..... which went kind of ok from a technical....... gas in here -> gas out there....... point of view.

And in general I was happy other than the way it looks. I tried to jizz it up...

First with some dodgy garage art

and then some garden flowers

But I soon gave up on the beautification idea no matter what i tried the head crab reminiscent fugliness's endured

I think you could lay that ewg pipe between Kate Upton's bare **** and it would still look ugly. Nice try though.

If you this with thin wall stainless manifolds

then it is only a matter of time due to the formation of chromium-rich domains and precipitates within the iron-rich matrix by spinodal decomposition of ferrite....
that this happens

So I made a replacement using schedule 40 boiler steel elbows.

Feeling brave, I also attempted to replicate one of Tim's great designs

Not the easiest to make, well at least the first time, as the merge is fussy.

There are definitely enough sciencey words for that to be true!

But is the truth even relevant? Sciencey words is is how we roll here on mt.net

Just in case any one is having difficulties recognizing when hobbies start to spiral out of control....
for me a good indication is when I live in the shed stuff piles up on the drive

Luckily there is a 19t antidote close by

Thanks Vlad. You mean the house?
I am surprised it turned out ok as I built it myself and made up the details on the way.
Here it was about half way through.

And now that summer is here the the various types of t28 manifolds are in bloom

Is that a camels toe in there?

Meanwhile, testing on techsalvager inspired css intercooler piping continues
