I thought that was alluded to with the STi version. Can't find any sources now.

They never mentioned output on the concept, which makes sense. Why tell everyone they can wait and get nearly 300hp and double the low end torque right as the regular version is hitting showrooms (or in my little bro's case being hunted down nationwide by salesmen since there aren't any in Texas).

They said over and over again that it will never be boosted.
Everyone just keeps wishing and hoping they would boost the STi version.

I still feels there is something fishy with the power estimates for the BRZ STI.
125 hp/liter with a red line of 7500rpm... (224psi BMEP if max power is estimated at 7250rpm)
Are modern direct injected engines that efficient (and reaching the emissions of today, but maybe this is with JDM emissions in mind?).
GT3 RS 4.0 have the same output but at a much higher rev (500 hp @ 8,250 RPM) and was seen as a remarkable achievement (196psi BMEP) for doing this and meeting the emission requirement.

Motor "journalists" blog any guesses they can come up with, and would not hesitate to "spread the news" if someone claimed 280hp from 1800cc at 7000rpm, just by tweaking the cams a little...

220 @ 7250 would be very high indeed from 2 liters and would result in a really interesting engine.
Remember, the S2000 only had 188 psi BMEP when it came out.

You are a company that just put a new car on the market. You also happen to be known for offering economy models in supped up trim. Would you not say the same thing to move your new cars off the lot and then later on say "oh hai, we changed our minds " to sell a few more after the hysteria died down?

Here's a saying i'm sure you heard "never say never".

I kinda wanna agree with you though, it makes a lot of sense for them not to. Lets think about it. Would they want to compete directly with another car in their line already? Probably not. But you never know how these companies think.

I'm sure it's been said on here already, but it's suspension being inferior to even the miatas--so distressing!

absolutely.
I'm just saying, if they don't change their minds, everyone is going to cry about how they "promised", when in fact, they didn't.

Is the suspension inferior? How have you determined that?

Wheels (and a drop) make a huge impact on this car visually:

Scion owners are young, self-absorbed douchebags. Would you be happy?
