Also, get rid of that rigid mounted oil pressure sender thingy, I've seen them break before.

I made a support bracket for it. More pics are in post #78.

The bores on the spare block look great and have no scratches or ridges. should they be bored to the next size up or just rehoned?

Some new parts arrived! The block will be taken to the machine shop on Monday.

Last night we removed the valves and springs from the head. Today I washed the head and cleaned up the exhaust ports. I smoothed the ports and removed the casting flash. I used a small Dremel wire brush to polish the surface after smoothing the ports.

Edit, I hate my camera...

What's the source/PN on the Manley rods? I haven't noticed many other BP folks using them. If you don't mind me asking, what's the budget for your engine build?

I'm enjoying the engine pr0n, keep it up!

Honestly, that's not that bad plus its a manufacturer I'm familiar with from the domestic engine side of the fence.

I got the rods and pistons from THMotorsports. I used a 5% coupon "5offFive" code to get an even better deal.

Here is the rod link:

Today the block and crankshaft was taken to the machine shop. Hopefully, I will have them back later this week.

I smoothed out the head ports and installed new valve seals and installed the valves. I had to make my own spring compressor tool. I welded a piece of angle iron to a large C-clamp to compress the valves and used a spacer on the valve end. It worked like a charm.

Tomorrow I will install the valve shims and cams.

your valve spring compressors suck.

I got the block, crank, pistons and rods back from the machine shop. Both parts checked out fine. The crank was micro-polished and balanced along with the pistons and rods. The block was hot-tanked and honed. We pressure washed the block and then I painted it red.

If you don't mind teasing a Canadian what did that machine work cost you?
