Vacuum gauge shows around 16-18, but dropping below 10 when its almost dying.

I'll get more carb spray tomorrow. Also going to pull the carb again and clean better.

Idk where a vacuum leak could have appeared but I'll search harder.

Carb spray is also good for finding a vacuum leak.

Loosing vac when it's dying makes me think it's a vac leak.

Agreed. But I still maintain it is a fuel problem, and that means pump if it's not the carb itself. Your float bowl level is dropping, and that's starving it. Find out why.

What did it do before the carb rebuild?

I checked that. I can push down on the float and it fills back up.

It was similar but different before the rebuild. Black smoke, coughing, wouldn't Rev. Super rich.

Until that (never) happens, I bought this: Summit Racing® M2008 Series Carburetors SUM-M08600VS and this: Carter Universal Rotary Vane Electric Fuel Pumps P4070. I had one of these Carters run for 10+ years on my Mustang with no regulator. If I hadn't dropped it I'd still be using it.

Because while I love my Autolite 4100, I need something that is tune-able with off the shelf parts that were not discontinued in 1970.

Aidan: I'm also guessing fuel pressure at this point. Do you have a simple T and a gauge you can plumb in?

I have a holly double pumper at home I could lend you if you don't get it figured out.
What type of intake manifold do you have?

I dont think its fuel starvation. I just drained all the fuel, line was empty. Tried one crank to get it to fill up. Cue geyser of fuel coming out of the carb (no top plate)

Thank god it didnt start.
