No idea why or how. Pretty over it. Friend is towing it home. Gonna try and bum some rides.

Oh well.
Sorry man, that sucks.

That's why I quit screwing around with track cars as much as I love being out there. The constant BS, work, and money it takes to keep them going.

On the bright side, I think we found where your oil was coming from.

You need it, and deserve it. Most of us would have given up a long time ago.

Let it sit for a bit. Turbo par-tout, replace with stock k24.

I bet you're like me, I will take a break, but not too long because I want to drive the freaking thing. Good to see you today!

Bummer, but it's just something we all had to go through. So consider this part of growing up, like us old farts

Bummer, I'm with sonofthehill and 18psi. When you get over wanting to shove it over a cliff, and start on it again (betcha will), I'm dying to know what the oil issue was.

Every year I get to at least one "part it and get out of Miatas" moment. Then, I take a break, come back fresh, fix it, and then proceed to find the next "part it" moment. I am really looking forward to stopping this cycle, but when it runs without problems it's glorious...

He'll get it fixed. As much cool stuff he's built and gotten working, this will get fixed too. I'm curious as well what happened, my guess is detonation broke ring landings. But I'm hopeful it's somehow something less and easier to fix.

It took me 6 months when I blew my first motor. But man.... It's been a fun revival.

Yeah I'll get back to it. It's just been getting in the way of some other projects I want to do. I'll get back to it this winter or next spring.

I would hate for it to be detonation. Because I'm running incredibly retarded timing, and havent seen any signs of knock on the logs, so that would just mean I had more issues. I would love to like find an upside down oil ring, or some assembly error that I can learn from and fix. I don't want to go down another rabbit hole of what caused this issue.

For now I'm lucky to have some great friends. People gave me rides everywhere all weekend. Afm let me drive his car on track all day Saturday, and I'm currently bombing through Sacramento in a friend's car while he tows mine home.

Only at M@MRLS can you blow a motor on Friday and still have a great weekend.

Also I learned I do not fit in NDs at all. Have a kink in my neck from instructing in an RF.

Really glad you ended up enjoying the weekend despite the major setback, and really glad you ended up sticking around.

At one point on this motor, you showed a set of plugs that were hammered with detonation. It was right after you got it running and threw a lot of boost at it.
