I thought the S6 was only offered in V-bands? So the Tial is a must.

I thought in 2012 it was common knowledge to not use gaskets on turbo/manifold/dp surfaces?

This build is just too nice to mess with flanges/studs.

VBAND is the only acceptable route.

Ordering now.. I'm going with the .63 TiAL housing. I'm not looking for everything this turbo has and I'd like to keep a good spool.

You should do a return system with a full write-up so my conversion will be easier.

subie guys don't experience gasket/flange failures like we do because theiy have like 100 miles of pre-turbo piping.
That's pretty much why they don't bother paying premium for vbands.

Yeah but if my goal is about 400 I should be able to produce that on a 3076R with the .63 hot side right?

yes.

id say smaller AR for your goals... I imagine you don't want to kill bottom end power more than you need to.

Worst case, you swap housings down the road if you don't like it or want more (easy with vband)

Not sure if I'd rock a .63 for 400+
You'll most likely get there with it, but I'm thinking it will be on the verge of choking up and/or building lotsa pressure up top.

This is where the turbo ***** should chime in: JUST HOW MUCH does the .63 flow

*edit: if fae made 400 on a log and .63 71 then you're set. question is: what if you want to go higher after?

If you were on a GT28 frame then for numbers like that, .8x would be no brainer... but you're on a GT30. 53.8 vs 60mm turbine wheel- I say go smaller housing for now. Per Garretts numbers, that turbo should make 525bhp all day long efficiently, at 400whp you won't really be 'maxing it out'.

but larger is better in some regards to EGTs, etc... but it all depends on what you want. (more low end, mid range, top end)

For my GTX2867, I got the .63 T3 equivalent housing..... I think it will be just fine, but I can always go bigger if so desired.
