Give me props. I'm currently on the side of the road with a broken axle. #toomuchpower

Turns out I broke it in two places. Made it quite easy to remove actually. She's back on the road

So I tossed the new axle in.. You can see it was broken in two places, once in the cup and one right at the axle nut.

Then I figured I'd try to feel out the next weakest link.. Nothing came up though

Hmm, yt link is broken and I'm not sure how to fix it. I generally need the whole link, and you only posted the post = part, so I'm not sure why it's not working...

Impressive job on the axle. I wonder which part broke first. The cup or the shaft.

Looks like that axle never had a chance.

Awesome build!
You should rename all your videos to "Miata breaking tires loose" instead of "attempting" Lol.

Of all the lots that you could do donuts in, you choose the one that's a popular weekend hangout spot. The cops kick people out enough as it is--leaving a bunch of rubber behind will only exacerbate the issue.

Aside from that, keep up the good work!

A little rubber isn't going to annoy them nearly as much as the amount of trash these kids leave behind. The scene up there is turning into some type of white trash fast and the furious movie set.

Plus- that was filmed in Mexico

Read through this build 3 times now, I love how meticulous you are with everything and making it look right. I hope I can follow your trend with my car once its time for the motor to go in.

Keep up the good work!

Some recent updates...

I showed up to an event in Detroit - Motor City Mayhem/Michigan Gumball. Drifting, stunt bikes and drag racing. There were professionals putting on the show.

Later in the evening during the drag racing event there was a big block Roadrunner tearing up some rubber and I made a slight hint about how I'd like to get my car out there. That somehow quickly turned into the announcer yelling over the microphone "Miata VS Road Runner!".

I was like FML no way. This purpose built drag car was on slicks and had his exhaust dumping just after the headers... Not sweet. I'm on 225 street tires and get no traction until 3-4th gear most times..

First run I tried to get him to run from a roll and he didn't quite understand the concept. Second run I wheel hopped through 2nd and missed third.
Third run I was slipping through 3rd but dusted him!

Car had a nice little squat off the line... Still no traction.

Then Saturday I hit the drag strip. I showed up and a friend of mine was going to let me borrow slicks.. The 14 inch steelies wouldn't clear my brakes though! I gave it a go on street tires.

The first run was alright. Got to the line and rolled out a little slow for fear that I was going to blaze the tires. The thing actually hooked pretty well and I ended up bogging the start (didn't use anti-lag). Ignore my buddy Scott.. His 10 second Evo makes my car look like a DOG!

Ended up with a 12.1 pass. Trap speed was 115 with a 2 second 60ft.

Second run.. I broke an axle. The burnout box was about out of water and as soon as it snagged the axle snapped. - That's my second axle in two weeks.. Not great. But at least is was the opposite axle.

I think the car has a mid to high 11 second pass in it.

We pushed the car off to the side and I bought another Axle that night. Had it in the car in 20 minutes and drove the bitch home..

My axle repair box:

The second axle broke almost identically to the first one.. Looks good next to my connecting rod keychain.

Are you using stock NB axles? If you are you might consider trying some MSM axles if you keep breaking them. BTW sick videos, you always put on a good show.

What tires are you running? Assuming its kinda warm, rs3 have provided me with great straight line traction.

BTW in case you did not know it, YOU ARE A MAN

Just read the whole thread great looking car. Your attention to detail reminds me of a buddy that I believe may have OCD.

Wouldn't he also need an MSM Torsen to work with the axles? It would suck to have to rip the diff apart again (for us normal people), but Im sure this mother f*er would just do it in his spare time after work one day
