Huge difference, good job. Pictures look way better on the forum then they did on my phone last night

That's a really small cannister you're going with. Should make for some really straight path, but are you not concerned with loudness? (probably a redundant question lol)

Moved to this page Because I like to look at it.

Thanks guys! Zander - I basically owe you for the accellerated welding learning curve.

My exhaust system was due for an update since the turbo system went on. After the down pipe I basically had some busted ash exhaust shop tack in some crush bent piece of crap.

I picked up 3 inch stainless from Vibrant. The build list went a little something like this:

2X - VIBRANT – 3” MANDERAL BENT UNIVERSAL BEND
1X - VIBRANT – 3” 5 FOOT STRAIGHT TUBE
1X - VIBRANT – 3” ULTRA QUIET RESONATOR
1X - VIBRANT – EXHAUST HANGERS
3X - VIBRANT – V-BAND ASSEMBLIES
1X - VIBRANT – 3” TURBO FLEX PIPE

I started with the downpipe – Leaving my V-Band to turbo flange slightly loose to allow for some rotation while mocking up the rest of the system. I wanted to start out with the flex pipe to keep stress off of my manifold. I had to knock some of the stainless wire off of the end of the flex pipe and then I mated the V-Band flange to it for a couple of quick tacks.

I’m no professional welder by any means but I do know that you must tack v-band flanges in multiple areas before you make your pass or else you’ll end up with a warped flange that wont seat properly.

Then I slid under the car and started to mock up my slight bends before the differential. It always looks like one straight shot will work but it won’t, especially when using 3 inch pipe. After each piece was determined I tacked it together.

Chop chop:

Old vs New – and I’m calling it a night.

Does it fit because its shorter and thus does not interfere with the canister thingus?

Why did I sub this build? Oh yeah, because its awesome. I'd say something like "keep up the good work" but its obvious you don't have any setting other than 11

Jelous. Really need to learn to weld and still trying to find a good deal that miller. Are you going to use a big muffler too? Did I miss it?

Looks like a miller Diversion 180. Its the same one I have. Its pretty damn nice, especially being able to use it on 110v when 220v isnt available.

Reading some material on that model, looks easy to operate. I'm on the hunt

I’ve finished the exhaust up. Welded up the hangers and completed the axle back.

From what I’ve read – V-Band flanges should be tacked in multiple places before a good bead is applied to avoid warping. Makes sense to me.. So I tacked the outside of what will soon be my axle back in a few places.

Then I hit the inside, trying my best to be consistent.

After it was in place I could now mock up the axle back section with my Vibrant ultra quiet resonator.

Shes on the car and looks really nice. I have not welded up the tip just yet. I think I might be trimming the bumper a little bit before it’s said and done. I don’t particularly like how low the 4 inch exhaust tip will be if I leave the bumper unmolested.

How much did all the cost from Vibrant if you don't mind me asking. Right now I just have an open downpipe turned down under the car. And what pieces did you have left?

Yeah, you better figure something out before we tune cause we'll get pulled over in about 2 minutes with an open downpipe lol

You will still get warp even when you tack it multiple places.

so is there no preventing it then?
is resurfacing flanges after welding mandatory?

Possibly clamping it to another flange while welding and cooling?

I would really rather not have to resurface all the v bands going into the exhaust, heck I dont think I could fit some of the pipe sections in the mill.

If you tack it in multiple places, take breaks while welding and don't get too hot you'll be just fine. My first one was slightly warped but the second one came out flawless. They would redesign the product if you couldn't use them without warping it...
