1.8 Arrived! Its a little dirty and gunked up from sitting for a while but it spins freely... curious to see what the compression #'s will be.
Couple concerns though...
1.) Looks like it had some terrible blow-by (Stuck PCV valve?) - I will have to remove the intake manifold and put it in the parts washer for a while. Throttle body is gunked up just as bad...
2.) The plastic TB cover on the bottom (The one that has the timing marks on it) Is touching the crank pulley - I will have to rip off the crank pulley and try to re-align the plastic cover or replace it... Hopefully its just the cover and not something more serious
3.) CAS looks rusted and nasty - I believe I read somewhere I can use the 1.6 CAS, so I will probably swap mine over

Last week my luck started to change!
Next motor arrived on Wednesday and it was 1000x better than the first.
Couldn't resist... Had to test fit the hair dryer
Also went to the auction on Weds morning and picked out my new daily. Its so nice and comfortable driving this thing around now. I'm extremely lucky that my boss is such a nice guy!
Ordered a few goodies for the new motor...
- Begi re-route parts
- TB/WP kit (Including all seals)
- Rear main seal
- Mazda Comp mounts
Only thing that came in so far was the motor mounts

I am absolutely getting there... Crazy to think it's been 2 years in this car and I still haven't had any boost. I'm right there now though haha
The TB/WP kit should be here today so I will probably start swapping all of that out this week. I need the re-route parts to get here this week though because I have to put the t-stat block-off behind the timing belt plate

Ok so my goals for this weekend are:
1.) Get my coolant re-route installed... I have to buy a couple bolts to replace the short stud back there. Pulled the stud out this morning, so now I have to buy (2) different length bolts when I get a minute to step out of the office.
2.) Oil feed for the turbo... I had no idea this was going to be such a cluster-****. I'm about to call FM and have them send me their T set-up and an oil feed line... My Artech line seems too short to reach the oil port near the oil filter. I thought about using the oil port on the back of the head but I have heard some discrepancies about using that.
3.) Set up Artech Water lines. This also now poses a problem because I no longer have the thermostat up front, and I believe these lines / bracket are designed to run the coolant to the front of the engine ( I will have the Begi block-off there)
4.) Clock the turbo... My mechanic is running home to grab a set of snap-ring pliers as I write this.
Next weekend will be:
1.) Timing belt/ Water pump, and all related seals.
2.) Tap Oil pan

I mounted it today just to see how it looked! Still waiting on a new gasket from RockAuto... I figured better safe than sorry.
Its really amazing how much money I've spent in the last 30 days... I logged into my CC online today and nearly fell over when I saw the balance. I WAS planning on having this thing dyno tuned shortly after I buttoned the motor up, but something tells me that will have to wait until spring!
And another box arrived today... This time from Begi... I think the only things left are a FM throttle body spacer (Thanks Psyber), and Trackspeed EGR block-off's
