I don't think anyone is trying to do that.

The #VoteBlueNoMatterWho crowd are being very vocal about the fact that Biden wasn't their first (or second, or tenth) choice, but that getting Trump out of office is the #1 most important issue, and only Biden can do that. That's basically the whole point of the far-left movement right now.

In fact, even moderate liberals are saying it. Here's a recent headline in the Washington Post:

We’ve never backed a Democrat for president. But Trump must be defeated.

This November, Americans will cast their most consequential votes since Abraham Lincoln’s reelection in 1864. We confront a constellation of crises: a public health emergency not seen in a century, an economic collapse set to rival the Great Depression, and a world where American leadership is absent and dangers rise in the vacuum.

Today, the United States is beset with a president who was unprepared for the burden of the presidency and who has made plain his deficits in leadership, management, intelligence and morality.

When we founded the Lincoln Project, we did so with a clear mission: to defeat President Trump in November. Publicly supporting a Democratic nominee for president is a first for all of us. We are in extraordinary times, and we have chosen to put country over party — and former vice president Joe Biden is the candidate who we believe will do the same.

Biden is now the presumptive Democratic nominee and he has our support. Biden has the experience, the attributes and the character to defeat Trump this fall. Unlike Trump, for whom the presidency is just one more opportunity to perfect his narcissism and self-aggrandizement, Biden sees public service as an opportunity to do right by the American people and a privilege to do so.

Ralliart, how are you going to "Mansplain" it when Trump wins re-election in November as a result of the Democrats putting forth a candidate who is just a few breaths away from brain dead?

I didn't ask for much with the election, just somebody that I can have hope might do a better job that Trump.
That is not asking for much, given the stinky mess Trump continually stirs up.
Who would have thought that stupidity begets even greater stupidity?
At the moment the best I can hope for is that Biden will have a stroke to force the Democrats to come up with somebody else.

So my only question is... does it matter right now?

Biden is the defacto candidate for the Democrats right? And Trump is the candidate for the Repubs. At this point it's in the electoral college's hand right? Like...who cares who anyone of the general populace votes for... that is unless they just want to see what the "feeling" of the country is.

Now if we're voting for who's going to fill those electoral seats... then Biden doesn't even matter - but rather the those in the seats, right? Am I missing something?

I thought menopause happened to women when they got older? They stop having their periods and other such vulgarity. Does that mean he "stopped" having his periods?

The background in that pick does bring back some fond memories. I worked with a guy whose son was a figure skater. My youngest played hockey. They were both thirteen or so at the time. I remember my son coming off the ice all sweaty and with a bloody lip, and his son was getting ready to go on, wearing a costume that looked like it came out of "Blades of Glory". I thought to myself, hockey is expensive, but worth it...

.........I think Joe sums it up fairly well why there is a greater than zero chance trump will win 2020 and why I put that exact sentiment (trump 2020) at the very end of my post.

And I would debate if the Dems put forth Biden as their candidate. Actually, quite the opposite as the Dems maintained radio silence apart from (seemingly) modifying the debate rules to allow Bloomberg to contest the debate........which he failed at miserably. Actually, Biden, for intents and purposes, had a dismal performance over the debate cycle and campaign in general (which the campaign trail was more a sign of his lack of doners)

However, what the Dem party did do, is listen to the outrage from 2016 in terms of their interference and allowed the people, through the primaries, to vote for who they thought was the best candidate. A somewhat similar strategic move late in the campaign trail when it was apparent the gop was becoming trump.

I see it time and time again from Bernie bros; pissed the Dems interfered in 2016......and just as pissed when the Dems didn't back their candidate. Ironically, the loudest supporters turned out to to have very little representation across the nation. Go figure.....

Biden was not in my top 5 candidates, but the people have spoken and the Dems need to have a consolidated vision if they have any chance come Nov.

There's no ******* way in hell you could possibly believe that. No ******* way. The deep state is propping up Biden so they can run the country. Thing is, he has to make it to November with minimum noticeable drool or it becomes a race between Trump and O'Biden's VP candidate.

If they could convince Mrs. Obama to run, I'm sure she would take the election by a landslide.

I'm not arguing for or against, or anything of that nature. But I suspect that would get the moderates voting Blue.

The Democrats DO have a consolidated vision.
Problem is the vision is nothing more than the blind desire to get Trump out of office, no matter the cost or consequences.

I consider myself an Independent and someone fully capable of voting for a reasonable Democrat (or Republican) but the Democrats will have to do better than Biden/Harris? if they expect to get my vote.

And, No, I do not consider the electoral college system as an excuse for me to refrain from voting.

?

Discounting the fact 2 recent elections have gone to the loser of the popular vote, the electoral college is affected by who the voters vote for.

Doesn't matter, Biden is going to pick Michelle Obama to be his running mate and watch Brain's head explode. Hell, he'd have picked POTUS44, just to stir **** up, except he's already committed himself to a woman.

Actually, someone will tell Biden she's his running mate, and he'll probably smile and say something like "Cool. She smells like Old Spice"...

There is still 6 months left in the campaign cycle

The question is; has trump done enough damage to convince anyone he needs out by any means, or are you willing to risk another 4 years of the current status because you were not happy with the current Dem candidate??

If you are asking yourself this question now; the current admin hasn't had a significant influence (positive or negative) to shift your stance one way or the other.

Oh no...I meant, come november for the presidential election, does it matter who the voters vote for (president) other than to give the appearance of "what the people wanted?" Go vote, of course. I mean for us people, the election that we have the most sway is in the one that flips or fills an electoral seat, correct?

While I'd prefer that Trump not be president, I will say this: I have asked a lot of the "#VBNMH crowd in what way Trump's presidency has caused them specific harm, and no one has ever given me a direct answer. A lot of them have actually given me no answer at all, and instead resorted either to name-calling and insults, or just message deletion and unfriending / blocking. (Actually one of those times I actually wound up getting doxxed and a few of them called my employer to let them know that I was a card-carrying member of the **** Party, which is why I no longer have much in the way of personally identifiable info on my FB profile.)

Joe,

You're spot on. I find in my conversations with the left-minded that they consistently say they don't like, with every molecule in their bodies, the Reader's Digest version of something the Trump administration proposed, but they can't tell me why they don't like what the administration actually did or how it turned out.

I don’t think any person, when voting for a POTUS has to prove, or justify by, specific harm. It can be something as simple as “I don’t feel he has the morality to be my president”. I specified my stance before he became president in this forum. I haven’t changed in that view. Since he became president his actions towards certain things reinforced my views.

If people don’t agree... good for them.

Frankly, it’s a waste of time and oxygen... Not trying to sound rude to you, just stating what seems to be a truth.

Honestly, at times I find it amusing, and a bit sad, that I’m paying (“proud contributor”) for time on this site to learn about turbo miatas and bother to read this forum. Not proud at all.

Brother bahurd,

What seems a waste, explaining why you hate everything Trump proposes, or why you hate everything he gets done?

I don't mind being rude. I believe mainstream democrats are low-life, two-faced pieces of rust. Two examples. The picture that circulated and outraged progressives to the point of bed-wetting showing illegal alien children in cages at border detention centers was actually taken during the O'Bomber administration. No one said anything then, but when it resurfaced while Trump was President and liberal morons weren't smart enough to research its origin, snowflakes were outraged nearly to the point of violence. When it was pointed out the picture was actually from 2014, the story died.

No matter how much you hate Trump, when he was able to repatriate the remains of 55 US servicemen lost during the Korean conflict, he should have been given some positive recognition. MSNBC did not cover the story at all. CNN did not cover the story live, and only gave it seconds of air time.

The democrat party can only be enticing to people who have no desire to deal with the truth.

a. I’m not your “Brother”

b. If it was soooo important to Trump that the remaining Korean MIA be returned, why did he suspend the program in 2019? You do realize he did nothing to get the 55 caskets returned. That was an effort by Kim Jong-un to gain favorable terms. After the doomed Hanoi “summit” it was canceled in 2019. BTW, there’s other wars where MIA are still unaccounted for... maybe you can summarize the administrations i.e. Trumps personal efforts to get them returned or the 8,154 Korean MIA still unaccounted for.

Can I make one request; can you name several things the democrats have done in the last 2 -3 years that have relegated you to such a stance?? And when you do, can you be so kind to cite sources and such and what has been the outcome?? Also, trump also refuses to deal with the truth, so by that unit of measure, what makes trump any better than the Dems in that regard??

I am just trying to understand why trump is held to a different measure as opposed to the Dems

And this is a legitimate question without animosity.
