Well, in the “Honda IM thread" there was a report someone breaking Begi aluminum tube IM.

What about incorporating the OEM manifold support brace?

That brace is putting a moment on the manifold most likely. I bet your crack started at cylinder 4 with that brace on. Put another one to the other end.

No, actually runner #1 was first to crack

that brace looks really weak and unsupportive.
factory one definitely bolts teh mani down a lot more and grabs most of it not just the front 1 runner
but I'm not saying it is or if that's your issue.

I dunno, just guessing here.

It might have been too tight. I tighten it on track and probably twist it too tight in hurry

I have 949racing's supermiata damper and mazda competition motor mounts

with a brace like that I would have just twisted it till it got snug, and then a quarter turn further. Good luck dude

Well I’m here guessing too. After all I’m an alcoholic not a qualified engineer. I had to first break stuff to know how to build it better. Anyway, that brace is there support more of the plenum than the runner #1. That plenum section is really thick and I don’t think it’s going to flex. </guessing>

Next thing to do is set oil pressure warning system. With these power figures I don’t expect my stock pump last long. Super Miata damper should protect oil pump but...who knows how well?... Adaptronic reads that 0-5v pressure sensor and alerts if pressure suddently drops on track. Maybe I should put another for the fuel pressure also…

ps. If any of the mods are reading. Change my thread title to “Turbo MX-5 (I have no idea what I'm doing with my life)”

But that brace is really just creating a moment arm because its connected the the manifold with a floppy joint. It would be ok if you connected it at the other end of the plenum the same way, or if you make a solid, stiff, 2 bolt connection with the same points you have now.

I’m tired of welding and bracing that ****. I want my intake to be as my exhaust manifold. Bulletproof and sexy

....Turns out it was clutch slip. It seems that FM lvl1 didn’t like 17psi so I’m back to the 15psi boost. It really didn’t come as a surprise as lvl1 is only rated for 318ft/lbs.

Any recommendations for cheap at least 380ft/lbs. rated clutch?

Well the lvl2 should definitely be able to hold down more than the 1, possibly well into the 350 range. Beyond that, looks like the twin disk is what you should start eyeballing. Esp since you're tracking the car
