Added my new data. 3rd earliest spool. PhilMD's data (2nd fastest) isn't at 4th gear on the street, it's on a dyno, which may produce a spoolier result.

VVT head got me like 250 RPM of spool.

What wastegate doesn't require the exhaust to abruptly change directions? The wastegate itself is a 90 degree angle.

VTA isn't really my thing.

I have a .86 Tial housing on order, I will try that first. It should be a pretty easy swap, given all the v-band connections!! I hate to lose my 14 psi at 3150 rpm spool, but if it works it will be a helluva lot easier than going to a 44mm wastegate, or twin wastegates, or anything else that requires extensive welding and fabrication.

There’s one in my build thread but my wastegate was leaking during that dyno run... nevertheless with 14.5psi boost it made 265lbs around 4K so I’m happy.

Engine: '95 1.8L
Turbo: GT2860RS
Manifold: ARTech FM replacement manifold
Downpipe Size/Style: 3"
Exhaust Size: 3"
Exhaust Components: resonator & Magnaflow Muffler
Intercooler Core Size: Old Style FM
Intake Manifold: Stock
Headwork: 99 head 3angle, backcut
Engine Management: MS3x
Other Spoolin' Helpers/Hurters: Toyota COPs, EBC, intake timing gear
Trans & Rear End Ratio: 6-speed, 3.636 LSD
Rear tire size: 205/50-15

FIFTH GEAR PULL:

RPM Boost(psi)
2893 .3
2904 1.0
3006 3.5
3106 5.0
3316 6.5
3510 8.3
3719 10.1
3943 14.9
4038 15.5
4211 18.2
4307 20.0

I wanted to post my values before tuning my EBC. I'm honestly not very happy with the results. I expected to be at 20psi before 4k. I guess the smaller wheel of the 2860rs is offset by the .84 exhaust housing vs the .64 of the china 2870.

AFTER EBC tune:

Can we add another field to this survey? Altitude. I've been trying to research altitude vs spool loss and I haven't had much results. Soon enough I should have datalogs for where I live (7200 ft elevation) vs Albuquerque (5200 ft) - but I'm more curious of the differences between sea level vs 7k+ feet.

***Edit: I found a couple days after posting this data that my wastegate was loose...really loose. Retuning for what will hopefully be greatly improved spool and will post new results when I get them.

Still working on the tune, but I don't think I'm going to get spool times down much more due to the crappy manifold and dp, no matter how much timing I throw at it. So here it is.

Engine: '92 1/6L
Turbo: EvoIII 16g (Genuine Mitsubishi)
Manifold: eBay/OBX log
Downpipe Size/Style: eBay/OBX 2.5"
Exhaust Size: 2.5"
Exhaust Components: No cat, 14x9 Magnaflow
Intercooler Core Size: 19x10x2.5"
Intake Manifold: Stock
Headwork: Nope
Engine Management: Galant VR4 ecu & ECMLink
Other Spoolin' Helpers/Hurters: Ummm...eBay manifold and dp
Trans & Rear End Ratio: Stock 5-speed/4.3
Rear tire size: 205/50-15

4th Gear Pull, flat footed it at about 2K rpms but I'm in vac until roughly 3400 so that's where the data starts here.

3444 0.1
3544 0.4
3655 0.6
3754 1.3
3854 1.3
3955 1.5
4045 1.8
4144 2.5
4257 3.2
4366 4.4
4454 5.5
4551 6.7
4641 7.9
4741 8.8
4864 10.2
4954 10.9
5054 11.7
5137 11.9
5245 11.2
5350 11.2
5372 11.4
5466 11.4
5597 11.4
...
