Yuck I owned a Genesis 2.0 Track, boring car, soulless, do everything 70%/master of nothing

My next car will probably be an 01+ Miata mixing daily/CR/track style all together. I really want 180- 200whp NA, MS diff/axels, MS headlights, Elise seats, Nickle 10's 245, xp10/8, hardtop, White exterior/red leather every where. If I wasn't getting all my debt way down it would be an FR-S.

FailFlunky, 06 Tundra Crew 4x4, lift, 33's. I daily an S2K right now that I just pulled out of storage.

 

Eh the genesis was just a thought.
And I'm fairly sure you had the previous gen, not the 2013 (though they're probably same in handling and whatnot).

I love my current 01, just wish Rev would hurry up and get enhanced MS3x going for us so I can finally boost it. I find myself looking at other cars, etc simply because of how slow my miata currently is. It amazes me how anyone could drive a non-turbo miata. OMFG

In a few years, when opensource is (hopefully) developed for the BRZ/FRS, and turbo kits are refined and perfected (as well as cheaper), I think they will be absolutely bitchin cars.

*edit: and if not, AP2 s2000's will be cheaper, and are phenomenal cars.

 

I haven't read into it very much so feel free to educate a brotha, but aren't the main differences between the Toyota and Subaru versions of this car purely aesthetic?

 

Pretty much. The BRZ is said to have stiffer rear suspension or something to that effect, but otherwise pretty much same car with different front end and interior trims.

 

Options packages are slightly different. I believe the Scion has some sort of nav system in the higher trim level.

Damn, I really want one of these. I hate my Jeep.

 

The Subaru Limited is the best option package, and worth the premium. Leather/suede seats are even better than stock, even when driving across 15 states. Great nav system, and very good stereo. Wheel controls and bluetooth integration all work great.

 

The FR-S does not have an optional nav system at this time. Really the only options from Scion at this time are the upgraded radio and dealer add ons. I saw one at an auto show this weekend with the 5axis body kit and that added $7K to the cost of the car, but I think that is a dealer add on as well.

A buddy of mine who is closer to the know told me that in a year or two you'll see more options for the FR-S as it becomes more part of Scion's branding of "customization" for everyone.

 

Although I'm sure it will be overpriced and underperforming, I'm kinda excited to see centri sc's come out for these things like toyota did for so many other scions.

 

I wish they would make one with 17x9, 235, tokico 5 ways, adjustable rear bar, and small S2000CR aero.

I think the design is great. If it gives the car the biggest thing its lacking, torque, I think its going to be pretty awesome.

 

That's a good option for guys that have already dumped money into n/a exhaust.

 

Integrated PD blowers like those are becoming extremely popular and efficient. I wish they gave some more information like blower size, etc...

Looks like a pretty deuce kit. Lets just hope it has the proper amount of powercards.

Wow, for $3,800. Not nearly as bad as I expected.

 

And its still slower than a basic turbo miata..


NOT that the potential isn't there, iirc theres one that made 450+whp on a stock motor.

 

That looks pretty good. In particular, I'm impressed by their solution to the challenge of lubricate a low-mount turbo like that.


I'd be curious to know what, if anything, is done in regards to fueling and timing, beyond the terse note that "it will work with the standard fueling system for a complete bolt on and go setup." Are they including whatever tool you need to reflash the stock ECU, or is the stock ECU really so awesome that it can deal with this boost without any software modifications?

 

The stock ECU has already been cracked and I believe there are already a few open source tuning options available. Eutek already has a multiple map setup to switch between E85 and 93 octane.

 

I didn't notice that. Now that I went and looked again, I saw that the ECU and tuning tools was an *optional* extra. Ooops.

Still, not at all a bad deal. I have no idea how much EcuTek charges for their software package (for the life of me, I can't find them anywhere- seems like they only sell to tuning shops?) but given the general open-ness of Subaru ECUs, I'm sure that RomRaider packages will be available.
