I like this hood a lot, wish I would've grabbed a closer shot of it. Looked pretty good.. just had to be careful where you parked the car cause you could steal the BOV through the openings.. lol

exactly, it's not pretty. I'm considering just cutting the hood and making my own. I dunno yet. I'm still pondering, but I'd like to do something over this holiday.


I think I'm going to cheap out, just get a can on bondo and do something like this, in the same area I've posted about above.

the nice thing about those vents is there not so flamboyant

though if you're going to diy, why not go all out? now that's extraction

I know a guy locally who can weld aluminum, I may just have to make the cuts then go to him and have him weld in some side pieces.
Any measurements on where to place those vents?

I'm not going to weld. I have a ton of sheet aluminum that I'll make walls with and rivet, then I'll make something for the air foil and then smooth it all down with body filler.

I suspect it will look something like this:



that's being optimistic if I can cut that well....however, with an air nibbler, it should look fairly clean.

Obviously mine isn't bent 100% yet or side ducted... but visually you get the idea.

I agree- a single hole, no divide. I may just do the same. Could've done it already given all the time wasted looking at ready made extractors. I think I'll resort to some kind of black treatment too- something to disguise/detract from the hole, because I know it's going to be ugly on the first round.

dott- you need to trim the bottom line of your bumper hole to match the OE recessed contour line so it doesn't look bowed up from the front. And you'll get more air. I know you're always looking for ways to make your car prettier.

I marked it then went to town with a dremel cutoff wheel, fiber reinforced one.

M2... yah, it is a show car after all.. I should clean the cut up . I may get to it, but I already put door trim onto the opening to make it all purty... so I might be too lazy to recut then retrim

my god im not reading through all pages of this... but did anyone else think of something like the TRD3000GT hood??

looks like where ever the bracing behind the hood had an opening it was cut. the problem there is the lack of airflow. my goal is to extract as much flow from the radiator as possible. without the holes having any sort means to route the air up through them, they probably only function well at idle. otherwise at speed, the airflow over the top of them will prevent any air to actually escape.

here's my final decision.



i plan the cut out a rectangle and literally build this separately from the hood & fiberglass solid, then laying down on top, rivet, smooth with body filler, and paint.
