I am getting one of these when the Jeep dies. I promised the wife I'd keep the Jeep after putting a couple of grand in it early this year. After that, I'm keeping my eyes open for a used one.

Where did you hear this?

All I have seen was a green light for the STI version which subaru already stated would not have a factory turbo. It will have a better exhaust and intake with a tune to push out roughly 20 to 30 more hp.

I'll see if i can find it. But I heard about it three days ago by a buddy who is on several "think tank" email forums with car manufactures.

I am not completely sure its out in the world yet... He said turbo with 275-305 horsepower and equal toruqe.

This.

Just got a text back from him. Was not in an email, was from a drunk Subie rep at an afterparty from the Seattle autoshow.

I will knee him in the nads for this next time I see him.

The chief Toyota engineer has already released that they are working on a KERS like system for later models based off what they are learning in their LMP1 car.

I don't particularly care if it's slow. I want rear wheel drive and a stick. That doesn't leave many options, and if you're looking to spend less than 35 grand, there really aren't many choices.

I can't see being able to mod the car in NY anyway. OBDII sucks.

The ECU's in the Subaru's can be cracked to disable the sensors that would cause CEL's, so the car always passes inspection. At least that is what I have read and understood.

Better.

Is This The First Subaru BRZ With A V8?

I like how the battery appears to be occupying the same physical space as one of the cam covers.

I'm sure that's not the first.

Jeremy Clarkson gave it the #1 car of 2012.

So... Wouldn't that make it more annoying that it's slow since you can't do anything about it? If the factory built a quick one, you wouldn't have to!

It's the classic engineer's dilemma.

Fast.

Fun to drive.

Cheap.

Pick 2.

Not particularly. I drive like a demon, so I pass people in my stock Miata. It's not the power that's addictive (I used to have a Fox 5.0), but the handling. As stated above, pick 2. I choose fun to drive and cheap over fast.

If there was a fast turbo (or SC) version, I'd probably shell out more, but that would depend on exactly how much more. 25% more (pushing it to over 30k) would probably not happen.

The classic dilemma is actually:

Fast

Reliable

Cheap

Pick two. But hey, I guess yours works too.

Toyota GT86 Griffon Concept is Faster Than a Ferrari | AutoGuide.com News

I am interested to see the details on what they did to the car. I assume it has a stripped interior and a high dollar race engine.

Although I doubt anything as extreme as this will probably be will make it to the mass market, I think it shows toyota is taking the cars performance development seriously and the aftermarket might see some good parts come out of this.
