Good call M2. Easy way is to look at the midsection. reinforced box with rounded top. There's a large flat removable plate on the bottom. Sorry I haven't been on in a few days. Today is my first day of summer break! Time to get started back on the car. More wiring tonight. i got my GoPro Hero2 in the mail today and took it for a run on the white car. At least we'll have some legit videos when the time comes.

.. O that's right, forgot to tell everyone that i ditched my 325Es and picked up another NA after i got my tax money back. This build was taking too long and i missed driving one too much. 2250$ and bonus hard top. Ill probably take the top off this one, paint it with some real paint, and put it on the red car when its back on the road.

Wheels and tires were horrid so i put the 6ULs to work.

Finished this up tonight. Table switch and LED indicator. Double pole single throw to keep the signal ground separate from the LED ground.

Brick by brick.

I picked this up under cranking with a PC oscilloscope tonight. Good to see the ford focus cam angle sensor is working as the 60-2 crank angle sensor. If someone is familiar with what the MS needs id like to get confirmation that this will work.

Im still making progress on the project. at this point im sorting out some tuning / configuration stuff in tunerstudio so i've taken my struggles to a more suitable audience.

http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewto...324217#p324217

^^ If you'd like to follow along.

Turns out the above graph is off by 5V. i was sending the sensor 5 volts when it just needed to be sent the shielded ground. Ended up doing a little Google searching and came up on a diagram that didn't match what i had wired.

Getting there.

So, what's the serial number on your EFR?

no recall but the first batch of EFR 6258 apparently used a wrong alloy in the turbine wheels. this causes them to shatter without any warning.

mine:
https://www.miataturbo.net/engine-performance-56/efr-turbo-le-why-u-gotta-b-such-bitch-66305/

I posted some links to the issue, apparently Full Race knew about it waaaay bac in November. I didn't know about it until this Saturday and it's beyond me why they weren't recalled

My last 6 digits of serial number are 110025.

Yeah this was talked about in an earlier thread. Did you "break in" your turbo as they suggested? What is your strategy on handling the situation? i've owned mine for over a year now and still havent gotten to use it yet. i plan on getting everything on camera but i doubt it will do me any good if it does shatter.. Keep me posted on what goes down.

**I've been hoping they would just do a recall before i got to start it..**

That's an interesting read, but conflicts with some other posts I read, saying *all* early EFR 6258 are defective. And today I learned that *all* EFR 6258 are early versions as new units haven't shipped since Fall 2011.

RMA with Full Race went super-smooth so I'm just going to buy Bryce's turbo and sacrifice a goat. If it blows up, at least I'll be ready

p.s. updated this thread - https://www.miataturbo.net/showthread.php?t=66305

I did the break in procedure as close as possible to what they said on soviets turbo. They said start it and let it idle for like half an hour then cool down before driving it. Turbo still went boom thousands of miles later.

Full Race told me to repeat the heat cycling procedure 3 times. I'm going to do this just so i have some ground to stand on but i doubt it will yield me a different outcome.

Excitement in the garage tonight. Wish i was fluent with tuner studio at this point.

Coil and firing order test.

Firing with no WBO2. After i get the wideband calibrated i'll give it another shot. Not sure what to adjust after i get this done.

Looks like tomorrow holds more reading on tuning idle.

Im pretty sure the wooft noise in the end was fuel burning in the down pipe. Probably a bit rich..

**Edit** Looks like my father is confident in my car building skillz. Haha! Gotta keep that fire extinguisher close!
